Dear Members, the season is in full swing and despite some very wet weather in June, the Course is in great condition. It’s great to see so many players out in the Course and we have welcomed many visitors in July. Our huge thanks to Torabhaig Distillery who sponsored the Club Championship and many congratulations to Andrew Long who is this year’s Club Champion and to John Finlayson who won the Club Championship Handicap competition.
John and Calum have done a great job in all areas of the Course and the new Greens cutter, which was delivered recently has already made a difference to improving the surface of the Greens. The Committee is grateful to them for all their hard work.
Buggies on the Course
The Committee would like to draw attention to the Club policy regarding use of electric or fuel driven buggies on the Course. Any person who wishes to use a buggy for mobility or health needs, first requires permission from the Committee. The vehicle owners and drivers need to show that they have personal and public liability insurance in place in respect of all named drivers as well as a current driving licence.
This policy protects the Course and other players as well as enabling less mobile players to continue to enjoy the game.
New trollies/ rental clubs
The Committee has ordered new trollies to replace the existing ones which are at the end of their useful life. These will benefit both visitors and Members. We were also successful in gaining funding from Scottish Golf to replace some of our rental clubs which improves our offer for Visitors.
Open Competition change of date to 25th July
The poor weather led to postponing the Open Competition which will take place this Saturday, 25th July. Please join in if you can as it is always a very enjoyable day in the Club. Entries can be made via the App or by contacting the Clubhouse.
Bus stop
Many Juniors come to the Club on the bus and the Committee has requested that a new bus stop is sited across the road from the Course to avoid kids having to walk a fair distance along the trunk road, carrying clubs. Hopefully this can be agreed with the Council and put in place as soon as possible.
Juniors
Katherine Tindall has continued to create many opportunities for Juniors and Youths to compete and work towards gaining a handicap. We are delighted that so many Juniors and parents are supporting the Sixes and Nines competitions. We are also very pleased to note that Katherine has completed her Community Golf Instructor training this Season, so well done to her!
Greenkeeper’s Revenge, AGM and Prize Giving date 10th October
The Committee would like to move the date of the Greenkeeper’s Revenge competition to the 10th October. We plan to incorporate the Prize Giving and AGM on the same day. The Competition will be held in the morning, followed by lunch and Prize Giving, with the AGM at 3pm.
